Sorry about that, I was using 1.1.5R but I couldn't remember the device name! Anyhow, I tried switching to my Oak card and it works fine. The problem is, XFree86 doesn't support my Oak card, only the Trident. I am so new to this OS that I'm only vaguely aware that there are more than one console driver, so I think I'll try to recompile the kernel with a different driver; might this help? (BTW, I've tried all of the *BSD's and also Minix with my Trident card and all of them lose the cursor, and I tried it with two different motherboards). -- Terry Murphy | Waukegan (Illinois) High School | Class of 1994 | "You think you came here just on time, but you're 20 years too late" - Marillion | "Vicious men look for things to do because they have time; virtuous men look for time because they have things to do" - Me | There ought to be an alt.fan.linus-torvalds!
