I'm familiar with setting up basic network : stuff like NFS and the host files, but it is easy to miss : something. Just look at the man page for bootptab and follow the examples in the sample bootptab file - it's easy. Follow the README in the source directory for what to do to start the server from inetd. In 1.1R the sources can be found in /usr/src/libexec/bootpd. With FreeBSD-1.1R you get a built in bootp. The version is not the latest and greatest, (CMU bootp 2.2A), but for a static bootp it's very good. We use Ver 2.1a at work on FreeBSD-1.0.2. As for the di?kless workstations, I think there is some sort of tutorial around. Someone else know where this might be? If you want a pointer to the latest version of bootp (2.3.6), mail me and I'll let you know where to get it - I don't have the info with me at the moment. : Thanks, : Eric : evaitl@milton.viasat.com Thats OK, good luck -- _-_|\ Terry Dwyer E-Mail: tdwyer@netbsd08.dn.itg.telecom.com.au / \ System Administrator Phone: +61 9 491 5161 Fax: +61 9 221 2631 *_.^\_/ Telecom Australia Telstra Corporation MIME capable mailer v Perth WA ( I do not speak for Telstra or Telecom )
