(my system is not working) I ran QA_plus on my motherboard (with an AMD 386 40MHz + ULSI 387) for half a day and it passed all tests with flying colors. Anyway, these tests may not mean much. However, the system hangs everytime with test loops < #40 when I run the 1452CF's diagnostics. I'd tried disable all caches on my motherborad, change cache write-thru to write-back, lower down the 1452CF to the minimum DMA transfer rates, change the chipsets AT ISA-bus wait state, change AT ISA-bus recovery cycle, change 1452CF bios address, and of course I checked the cable and terminator. Also I ran the diagnostics of the same AHA 1452CF on an Intel 486DX2/66 at work for a couple of hours (ie. with test loops >#250) and had no problem at all. Did I miss anything essential that I didn't check? I welcome to any suggestion or advice. Worst comes to worst, I need some advice on selecting a reliable 486 motherboard. It seems to me, everyone is making 486 chips these days and not to mention the types of montherboards in the market. Advice on what brands of motherboards should be avoid will also be appreciated. Is there anyone on the net running FreeBSD/NetBSD on an AMD 486DX2/66? If there is, do you have any problem with it? Is AMD 486DX2/66 as good as Intel 486 DX2/66? Thanks for reading. Bill Cheung
