I'll be a lot more specific this time as I have the errors in front of me. I have a PCI/ISA system (don't know the motherboard type off the top of my head) with 8MB ram. WD Paradise video card, WD wd8003 ethernet (0x280, irq 5, 0xd800). I had a PCI IDE controller in the machine for one test, and not in for the other. I have one of those wonder-boards that does ide/floppy/serial/parallel/game control. As I mentioned, the first time through, I used this board to control floppies, serial and parallel ports, while I used the PCI controller for the IDE drives. The second time through, I used the multi-function board, and disabled the PCI board. I got the same results both times. What happoened: Boot appeared to work fine (that is, it loaded the kernel and prompted for the filesystems disk. Once that disk goes in, I get the following messages: ( most of these are shortened) ed0: found at 0x280, irq5 ed1 not found duie to irq confilct with ed0 ie0 " " " " " is0 " " " " " npx0 on motherboard biomask 4040 ttymask ba netmask ba changing root device to fd0d wd0: cannot find label (no disk label) fd0: operation timeout ST0 ffffffff<invld,abnrml,seek_cmplt,drv_chck, drive_rdy,top_head> cyl -1 ST3 ffffffff <fault,write_protect,drdy,tk0, two_side,side_sel,> fd0: operation timeout ST0 ffffffff<invld,abnrml,seek_cmplt,drv_chck, drive_rdy,top_head> cyl -1 ST3 ffffffff <fault,write_protect,drdy,tk0, two_side,side_sel,> fd0d: hard error reading fsbn 16 of 16-31 (ST0 ffffffff<invld,abnrml,seek_cmplt,drv_chck,drive_rdy,top_head> ST1 ffffffff<end_of_cyl,bad_crc,data_overrun,sec_not_fnd,write_protect, no_am> ST2 ffffffff <ctrl_mrk,bad_crc,wrong_cyl,scn_eq,scn_not_fnd, bad_cyl,no_dam> cyl -1 hd -1 sec -1) panic: cannot mount root syncing disks ... done dumping to dev 1, offset 0 dump device bad automatic reboot in 15 seconds - press a key on the console to abort Help?
