Shouldn't the dial out device be /dev/cua00 or /dev/cua01 and the dial in port be /dev/tty00 or /dev/tty01? I have tried to use /dev/tty01 for kermit to dial out and was never able to connect that port (maybe I did not wait that LONG). But /dev/cua01 works fine.
