The situation: I just installed FreeBSD-1.1.5 on a machine I have in my office, it does not have a supported ethernet card, so I copied the 'ppp' scripts I use on another machine to dial up a 'ppp' connection, It works flawlessly on the "other" machine. I have changed all the appropriate IP #'s etc... on the new machine. I can establish a connection (that works) however it runs very very slow. For example: I do a ping to a host on the other side, I get times about 250ms (not bad), but when I telnet to that same host I get extremely poor performance. I press a key and can literally wait 7-15 seconds for the packet to get sent/received (I watched the lights on the modem to determine when a packet was sent/received). The lag was in sending. I do not have this problem on my home machine running FreeBSD1.1-RELEASE using the exact same scripts to make the connection. Any thought/Advice would be appreciated, I just cannot seem to find the problem.
