In my opinion, the best way to start is getting the cdrom. I think it's
$40, I get mine by subscription (cheaper). This give you more than just
the system, it also gives you a large collection of ported applications,
enough so you end up making a very useable system. To get info on the
cdrom, finger info@cdrom.com. The ports collection alone makes the cdrom
a great buy.

If you want to use ftp, I'd strongly recommed reading the FAQ first, it's
posted twice a month here (on *.announce), and I think a new copy is just
been posted.
