Most people don't buy a mac to run unix. They want to run unix on a machine that the have, or want to buy a new machine with a set of needs that defines "macintosh," but also want to run something unix-like. >NetBSD core teams remarks also contradict : "NetBSD is intended for >*different* users". The MacOS can't see the NetBSD at all (although there's been talk about trying to get a "foreign file access module" built so that it can). >Can it access Mac file system from NetBSD ? This is under development. We can read files. Can't write, and probably won't real soon as the documentation is skimpy (lots of "Reserved for the finder" fields) and bad writes can be disasterous on the HFS. Current work in that area is to take the current program and make it into a filesystem that will be mountable. It's still very much a work-in-progress, but at the same time, it is usable. -allen -- Allen Briggs - end killing - allen.briggs@vt.edu ** MacBSD == NetBSD/Mac ** = Over the years you swam the ocean following feelings of your own [...] = == It's a shame to have to die to put the shadow on our eyes.
