I am VERY impressed so far (am thinking of replacing Linux on my main user machine due to the networking features) but I am having a few problems with setting up some software: I am trying to get UUCP to work with TCP and also get NFS working. In both cases, however, I am getting error messages that mention "bind" and "permission denied": From Taylor UUCP when I attempt to set up a uucico daemon to watch the uucp port: FATAL: bind: Permission denied From nfsd when I try to get that going: nfsd:[181]: Can't bind addr I get "permission denied" messages when I attempt to mount a directory. Are these problems related, and what do I need to do to fix them? Is the system trying to create a socket file and doesn't have permission to create one? I am running FreeBSD 1.1.5.1 bin distribution (downloaded about a week ago). Thanks. I hope you FreeBSD people out there are as friendly and helpful as Linuxers. -- kevin ------------------------------------------------------------ Kevin Fluet WorldGate Public Access Internet fax: (403) 444-7720 kevin@worldgate.edmonton.ab.ca modem: (403) 444-7685 481-8584 489-4064 489-0212 444-7720
