It is possible that you are running out of memory -- the system has very
little overcommit capability.  It is best to allow for as much swap as
total process sizes.  This issue is going to be revisited again for
FreeBSD V2.0.  (The change is there to fix possible system hangs --
great tradeoff huh? :-)).  Sorry for the problems -- BTW, certain forms
of I/O errors can cause this effect also.  The more info you can get me
the better.
