Message-ID: <1992Aug9.004417.22394@jarvis.csri.toronto.edu> Date: 9 Aug 92 04:44:18 GMT Lines: 19 Does anyone have any specific suggestions as to a card to buy that will be supported by X386? Please e-mail and I'll post a summary as well as forward it to Amancio Hasty, who seems to be keeping the X386 FAQ. I'm seriously considering moving entirely over to either 386BSD or Linux, but I want X but I only have an ATI card and they're not supported. I'm anxious enough that if I don't hear from anyone soon that ATI support is in the works then I might just go buy a different SVGA card. I know that X386 so far supports et3000 and et4000, among others. I'd like it to be reasonably fast and I believe X really needs 256 colors to fly well (but I'm prepared to be proven wrong -- the SPARC IPCs at school actually look fine in monochrome). -- The primary goal of science is to describe whatever scientists see as being in need of description.
