I am disgusted. Charles, I've posted in the 386bsd groups a very specific case of how NetBSD 1.0 will be tainted. This is not scaremongering on the part of myself or any other FreeBSD members. The simple fact of the matter is that Net/2 was declared tainted in its entirety, You can't go keeping bits of it and then claim a totally unencumbered source tree. If I have misunderstood the ramifications of the BSD/USL settlement then I will agree to posting a retraction in all the forums that I have raised these points but as far as I can see if you have ANY Net/2 files still in your source tree then that source tree in contaminated *as far as USL are concerned*. As to whether you care about what USL think that's your lookout but FreeBSD has already had dealings with them and we're making damn sure they have no hold over us ever again. I know from checking and in any case you already stated that you have basically just pulled over the "hot list" files from 4.4lite and still have most (not all) of the Net/2 files for the user code. Those facts just speak for themselves and your misleading YOUR users if you tell them NetBSD 1.0 is unencumbered. -- Paul Richards, FreeBSD core team member.
