Or keep distorting the facts as is traditional. There is one Linux kernel. The one that Linus puts out. Other people may build theirs different (patches, etc...) but the same thing can happen with any OS w/ the source. There are three BSD kernels: the one that comes with 386BSD (I don't care if it's old, it still exists, the one that comes with NetBSD, and the one that comes w/ FreeBSD. That to me sounds like 3 different OS's. >UNIX: AIX, HP-UX, OSF/1, SunOS/Solaris, Linux, BSD, UNI/XT, A/UX, > Ultrix, Xenix, Unicos, plus dozens more >Windows NT: Windows NT >Since less is better (?) and the mere existence of related operating >systems detracts from their usefulness (??), we just have proved NT >the perfect operating system. Puke. Hmmm...I never thought of it that way...yuck. Anyway, I never said that less is better, I was just trying to clarify the original statement. >For different needs. One if you want a free UNIX. The other if you >want a free UNIX. (Spot the difference and win a trip around the world!) Really? Hmmm...I'll have to look into that :) But, what if I want a free UNIX? :) -Dan -- Dan Newcombe newcombe@aa.csc.peachnet.edu Clayton State College Morrow, Georgia -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "And the man in the mirror has sad eyes." -Marillion
