Date: 26 Jul 1994 02:51:21 GMT Organization: University of Washington, Seattle Lines: 21 Message-ID: <311tn9$sbs@news.u.washington.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: stein4.u.washington.edu I just got through installing FreeBSD 1.1.5.1 on my system and decided to try to install XFree86, but met with considerably less success. Since I've never used an X windows package before, I have no idea what I am talking about, so I hope my questions make at least a little sense. I am using a ZEOS 486 Pantera. The video card it came with is a Diamond SpeedStar 64 (with PCI bus). I read in the XFree86 FAQ that Diamond hardware was not supported, but it mentioned that the SpeedStar 64 *might* be compatible with the Cirrus driver. If anyone has gotten this card to work, I would appreciate any information on how to set it up. Actually, I don't really even care that much about the SVGA stuff, so I would still be happy with a generic VGA setup if full support of the card should prove impossible. While I'm at it, is there a quick way to give some color to the lifeless grey and black console that is driving me blind? Thanks for the help, Jon Anderson <yesman@u.washington.edu>
