As i'm going through the installation and FreeBSD is asking questions about my hard drive it asks "what type drive ESDI SCSI ST506 or IDE" it has IDE as the default. The drive is an IDE so i've tried just hitting return, typing in ide and IDE, but it still lists at the end dt=st506. And if i try to give it a nonexistant drive to install to it comes back with somthing like "can't write to disk are you sure it's type is st506" I type no and then IDE but this still doesn't help. This happens with both generic IDE controllers i've tried. Is there somthing wrong with the hardware(drive, controller motherboard??) or is the a way to change this in software. intel 486sx hd 3.5 and hd5.25 monochrome adapter with lpt port Maxtor 7131AT IDE hd Thanks Ron Porter -- *********************************************************** *Ron Porter porter@chem.wisc.edu * *Univ.
