Date: Tue, 26 Jul 1994 03:11:06 GMT Organization: Western Business School Lines: 30 Message-ID: <MARK.1055.2E347ECA@ardsley.business.uwo.ca> NNTP-Posting-Host: home-pc1.business.uwo.ca I have the dhrystone benchmark. I have been using it through the various flavours of FreeBSD. Last week I loaded 1.1.5.1 without any problems. Previously, I ran 1.1.5 alpha from the sup. I had only recompiled the kernel and has using the older 1.1 libs and utilities. I am now running all 1.1.5.1. The dhrystone benchmark is showing 1/2 the speed of what it was last week. I went back to my alpha 1.1.5 kernel and it stayed the same. Have the libraries (libm) or something changed so that this benchmark would be that much slower? The machine is a p5-66. Should I recompile with some special switch to activate the math chip support instead of the emulation lib or is it auto sensing? I have placed the benchmark on ashley.business.uwo.ca as benchmark.tar.gz if anyone is interested. The last calc used to give me about 172k/sec and now gives me 72k/sec (less than 1/2). I used to have a 486-50 and it gave me about 80k/sec under 1.1. ps: The machine seems to be running full speed with nortons sysinfo (dos). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Mark Bramwell, VE3PZR Located in sunny London, Ontario Internet: Mark@ARDSLEY.business.uwo.ca IP Address: 129.100.22.33 Packet: VE3PZR @ VE3GYQ UWO Phone: (519) 661-3714
