News groups are open forums. If all the action is »in the *BSD mailing lists then that may be a bigger than you imagine »factor in the differences in popularity. Drop into a Linux newsgroup »and the the place is ahopping and abuzzin'. Drop into the 386bsd »groups and you could well be in a church or morgue. Maybe someone »should echo some of the lists to the appropriate groups. Hm, you like an overcrowded newsgroup where it's hard to find what you're looking for, when you didn't read it for 2 days ? I think the overpopulation of Linux will break those groups sometimes. Linux groups are comparable to MSDOS groups (just the groups ? hehehe...), a lot of doubled crap and too much chaos with too few information. I think even the BSD groups are quite before an overrun (ratings for linux: ~1000000 users, ratings for *BSD: ~250000), and I think the BSD groups will get this problem in the near future too. So the only chance we have is further splitting into mailing lists. » Why? It's much easier to hop into a group and have a quick »look, than find, subscribe, looks, unsubscribe to a mailing list. It's not easy to hop into a group which gets almost 200-500 articles a day... Bye, Udo -- Der König sagte zum Priester: Halte Du sie dumm, ich halte sie arm !
