To clarify, 'original poster' couldn't give a flip about POSIX.  I would
like to know how FS read ahead is done and what happens when you change
the TCP transmition variables.

I thought my example with load averages would have been enough to avoid 
this argument.

So the answer to my question is 'Yes Lee. Given your criteria, you made
