Well, that's funny. I know of the NCR 53c810 driver that was developped under FreeBSD and has been available via anon. FTP for some time now (after being available to beta testers early this June). (It's available from: FTP.Uni-Koeln.DE:packages/FreeBSD) It supports advanced SCSI features (eg. tagged command queues) and is mostly written in NCR SCRIPTS to make it put the least possible load on the host cpu. (Ie. it generally does tags/disconnect/reselect without interrupts.) The driver ought to work under NetBSD and we got several requests for the sources from people trying a NetBSD port. It is not hard to do, only the loadable device driver support in NetBSD requires changes to the probe and attach routines. We sent them our sources, and we are not against use in any free Unix clone. But we would like to get patched versions back, to not have diverging versions for the different *BSD around ... ("We" is: Wolfgang Stanglmeier <wolf@dentaro.GUn.de> and me (see below)). So, if anybody took our FreeBSD driver and ported it to NetBSD, it would be nice if we got the modified version back to be able to merge the changes into a general *BSD release. If there are independently developed drivers that use the high level features of the NCR 53c810 (ie. don't use it as a dump controller ala 53c70), we really would like to hear about those too ...
