I made some benchmarks with the new 1.1.5.1 release dhrystone 1.1 dhrystone 2.1 ssba suite bonnie iozone Disk performance is better (scsi). Other things are about the same. ssba computed the HZ value to 128. With that HZ value you get reasonable results. When doing benchmarks like dhrystone you have to use the correct HZ value. In former BSd releases this was the typical value of 60 for BSD systems. As I heard from Joerg Wunsch the BSD team had to implement timer with a better resolution because of implementing better sound card support (I think). This results in strange "results" when doing benchmarks ... Watch the HZ value closely when the times(2) function is being used !
