In reponse to several message I have received, I should
note that I did have "portmap" already started before
I tried to start "nfsd" and mountd". In addition,
I tried to start both daemons by hand after they
	failed to load.

The results were similar. "mountd" said nothing and
	"nfsd" repeated with:

	Can't register with portmap.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
