Equipment: - AMD386/33 - 8MB - 64kB cache - com1 serial port 16550AF (fifo) - com2 serial port 8245 (non fifo) - lpt1 parallel port - Adaptec 1542B SCSI adapter - Micropolis 150MB SCSI drive - 5.25" floppy (A:) - 3.50" floppy (B:) Problem #1: Screen 3.2 form etc01 package doesn't work properly on serial lines. My ancient terminal is connected to com2. When I start screen it executes shells and emacs defined in ~/.screenrc. Anuway after copyrigt messages my screen remains blank until I give any command to screen (C-A ^L for example). I can also write anything to process running under screen, but it seems that process gets its input after next screen command. It's like input and output streams were always buffered until next screen command is given. It's quite annoying :-) I've tested screen on serial line com1 (fifo) too. On that line screen startup never passes copyrigt messages. Programs defined in ~/.screenrc can be found in process-list, but actual screens never appear. Only way to exit screen on com1 is to kill if from other tty. On console screen works fine. Problem #2: I'd like to conect printer to lpt1, but I don't know how to create parallel device. If someone cares to explain how the trick is done, I'd be delighted to do so.
