If my BSD machine was in any way accessible to me I could tell you what needed fixing, but the best I can do off the op of my head is to tell you to look around in the .c file where you find the above error string. Maybe it will be obvious to you... I didn't take me all that long to fix, but I can't remeber specifics. FYI, this is also not a FreeBSD problem, since I had seen it under NetBSD 0.9a, and 0.9b beofre I went looking for it and fixed it.
