After setting the mouse to PC mouse mode It worked correctly. I did have a problem during one X session when I had a terminal connected to com1 (mouse on com2) that the terminal stopped accepting characters except when the mouse was moved or the console keyboard was used. when I reversed the com1 and com2 the effect was reversed, no mouse movement except with keyboard or com2 i/o, When I rebooted the machine later the problem disappeared and has not reoccured. |> >>>> - Why is X server not accepting characters from the keyboard? |> >>>> If you started X from your console, X is probably competing with your |> >>>> shell for characters from the keyboard. I usually start X from a script: |> > [non-working solution deleted] I have the problem that no keyboard input will be taken if I move the mouse before typing into the xterm that appears under the pointer on startup. If I type into that original xterm I can then move the mouse and activate any window and type correctly, but If i move the mouse before I type into that window the keyboard will not be useable, however If I kill the inital window with the mouse menus, I can retry with the same possible problems (no keyboard if I don't type first). Rich at rich@rice.edu and I did the port I do have one problem with my setup currently, When I exit the X session nothing appears on the screen, It seems that the console display is not getting reset correctly. it is possible to type commands and they correctly, so the shell is there but the display seems to be misdirected or have some other problem. Is this a common problem or could it be a problem with my VGA card DFI vga card VG-5500 (I believe) 1Meg display mem, I'm not at my machine so I am not certain. Nice job for Bill and Lynne for the system and nice job on X, Amancio. Thanks Dale Rahn rahn@sage.cc.purdue.edu
