I have a device which periodically emits lines of ASCII data. I would
like to use a BSD-style UNIX box to capture the data, create hourly or
daily log files and possibly maintain a display of the most recent
half-dozen records. I've not found anything appropriate as I look
through the various source indices.
Could anyone provide me with a pointer to data collection software
such as this?
  Thanks for your consideration.
