Running BSDI 1.1 with a Telebit T3000 modem which I can dial out with tip. When I try to run startslip it gives me this error to the

Aug  6 10:40:13 stinky syslog: /dev/tty01: read: Input/output error

Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong or at least what I can to fix
this.

If this info is in a faq or other doc., just point me towards them.
