Lines: 32 Distribution: world Message-ID: <32221b$fed@infmx.informix.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: mirage.informix.com Originator: ahogben@mirage Ok, so after I installed all the 1.1.5.1 sources, I ran 'make world', just like Jordan said to. :-) And, by gum, it all compiled without a problem... I think. I'm not really sure. I don't see a new kernel in /, but all the binaries I've checked are new. Also, in perusing the makefile, I see that there's a 'bootstrapld' target. The comment says that should be done first thing to get the shared libraries going. I never did (nor did the make as far as I can tell) but I have all the '.so.1.1' libraries in /usr/lib. So, I guess my questions are, am I supposed to build the new kernel separately (I have to anyway to configure it the way I want) or did the 'make world' really not go as well as I think it did? Also, should the bootstrap stuff have been done? It's not one of the sub-targets of 'world' but with the way stuff is nested in the makefiles it's a little hard to tell if it should be hit eventually. One more thing. Am I just supposed to copy the directory /usr/src/etc to etc (with appropriate caution for trashing files of course) or is there more to do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Andy ps I haven't rebooted yet (after the make) because I'm trying to make sure everything is there while I have a working system. I'd rather not reboot only to find that I hosed things. :-| -- Andy Hogben Informix Software, Inc., Menlo Park, CA ahogben@informix.com
