Date: 9 Aug 1994 18:37:47 GMT Organization: Purdue University Computing Center Lines: 30 Distribution: world Message-ID: <328idr$2qc@mozo.cc.purdue.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: sage.cc.purdue.edu I am using FreeBSD 1.1 and sendmail v8.6.8. Prelims out of the way, here's the problem. All of my mail transfer is currently being handled by UUCP. However I want my From: line to contain @ style addressing. Ideally I want my from: line to apear thustly: From: root@cioeserv.cioe.com (System Adminstrator) Convincing sendmail to do this is simple enough... until it gives me the dreaded: Aug 4, 1994 sendmail [865]: RAA00863: SYSERR(root): No ! in UUCP From address! (root@cioeserv.cioe.com given) This message is repeated three times. The message is sent, but an error message is also sent to me. If I use bang addressing all is well except then the return path is more complex and sometimes incorrect. The Ideal World --------------- I'd use domain addressing and sendmail wouldn't give me errors. Does anyone have ideas on this? All help greatly appreciated. Thanks muchly. -Steve e-mail replies are preferred, thanks.
