Lines: 32 Message-ID: <32c0kr$94d@Mercury.mcs.com> I can't seem to be able to connect to my modem directly using "cu"... # cu -l tty00 cu: open (/dev/tty00): Permission denied cu: tty00: Line in use Hmmmm... I thought perhaps it was because I was running a getty on the port, but turning it off had no effect. I have a 486DX50 running FreeBSD 1.1.5.1 and a 16550AFN connected to a Telebit WorldBlazer. Under MS-DOS, I am composing this message over the same hardware. More to the point, under FreeBSD I can run getty, log in, exit and dial right back up - no problems. Simply can't seem to be able to use the port bi-directionally, or at all once a getty has run on it. Stupid questions: Can the regular old tty00 be used bi-directionally? Do I have to use some funky getty (ala uugetty) to do this? Do I have to create a new device (ala SunOS) to do this? I see references to /dev/cua0 on the net all the time... it ain't there. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated. - mike PS> Anyone know of a document that describes, step by step, how to get PPP running under FreeBSD 1.1.5.1?
