NetBSD-1.0 is already completely 4.4 based in the kernel. Approximately half the userland stuff is currently 4.4, from what I understand. Although there are currently test binaries already available for NetBSD-1.0, it will probably be next week or the one after before we see a true 1.0 release. FreeBSD won't be bringing their 4.4-based system out until end of September/beginning of October, from what I understand. > 2. (crashing = not a problem. crashing really, really > frequently = problem) I'm running the NetBSD-1.0_Beta current tree that is the pre-release stuff. It works excellently. My last long uptime before I started doing some hardware upgrades on my machine, rebooting it frequently, was 32 days. There are binaries of this current distribution on ftp.iastate.edu -- but they are not an automatic install -- you'll want to know what you're doing before blindly copying them onto a drive. -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Michael L.
