Doin a Low Level format on an IDE drive is a BAD idea.  Sorry, unable
to help with the real problem, but a LL format is not the answer for
an IDE drive.  Something you might check would be to see if there is
a fdisk utility, to partition the drives and select the partition
you want to boot to.
