Date: 17 Aug 1994 16:39:44 GMT Organization: Stanford University, CA 94305, USA Lines: 22 Distribution: usa Message-ID: <32tegg$kbi@nntp2.Stanford.EDU> NNTP-Posting-Host: elaine21.stanford.edu Keywords: FreeBSD, 1.1R, ppp, chat I've been trying for two days now to get ppp working on my FreeBSD 1.1R box with no success. The first hurdle was getting the device (cua00) setup correctly. I can now use cu to connect to the modem without any problem. The problem is that chat does not seem to talk to the modem at all. I've got the usual chat script...something like pppd connect 'chat "" "ATS0=1" OK "ATDT XXXXXXX" ...' /dev/cua00 38400 but I never see the modem get any of the command bytes. DTR goes high but that is as far as the process ever gets. Eventually chat will timeout and I'll get a report that pppd could not setup the connection. I've seen all of the posts about people setting up ppp on 1.1.5.1R but nothing about 1.1R. Is this because it is broken? I'm in the process of updating to 1.1.5.1R now but I'd really like to know if there is some- thing else that I'm missing. -- Mike Fallavollita mikef@microtech.com -- Mike Fallavollita fallavol@corvus.arc.nasa.gov [128.102.24.98] mikef@leland.stanford.edu [36.21.0.69]
