(Sysadmin hasn't put this group up on the local news system) ====================================================================== I have scanned the FAQ I have and find I still need more information. I am looking to replace a machine. The quote I have seems to be pretty good except it has two items of which I am unsure. I intend to run NetBSD on the machine (with a DOS/Windows partition on the side). On both of these, please relate actual experience (I need to **KNOW** it will work without pain and suffering). Second-hand "I've heard that such and such will work with ..." is not strong enough to satiate my needs. 1. The quote is for a 486DX4 75MHz, 256K sram, 2VLB, 8 EISA slots. It has a HOT 419 motherboard which runs the AMI BIOS. Has anyone used the HOT 419 board with {Net,Free}BSD? 2. Does anyone have a suggested distributor for BusLogic SCSI controllers? 3. Does anyone know a part number (and purchase location(s)) for the newer Number 9 cards (S924 chip, I believe). Still needs to be a VLB tho. Thanks! Michael Miller michael@osg.saic.com PS. If anybody has a great source for the equipment listed above (hard drives, CD-ROMs, tape backups (looking for Exabyte/other to supplement ES5525 (I already own the 5525)), etc), I am interested in phone numbers, prices (if you care to share them), dates purchases were made, contact persons, etc. Please remember to **EMAIL**, not post, responses. I will summarize for the net, if asked. -- ======================================================================= Scott Bartram Pulse Systems 301-470-6000 scottb@pulse-sys.com 12101 Indian Creek Court uunet!deneb!scottb Beltsville, MD 20705
