I would say FreeBSD :)

I have used both and find the BSDI product to have it's 'quirks'.  Plus, I 
have had greater success in porting applications to FreeBSD.  FreeBSD is 
... well .. it's also Free :)

The only thing you miss is support.  I have zero complaints with the BSDI 
support folks - they are great.  It's their product that gives me headaches.
