(so you copy the generic one off : the appropriate kcopy disk, disassemble your machine, reconfigure, : reassemble, reboot, build your new kernel and reverse the changes 8) Strange, I didn't have these problems, before I upgraded to 1.1.5.1 completely I ran 1.1 with the upgraded kernel as described above ... So ... watch out everybody ... make your own experiences.
