The easiest way of doing this is to have 3 partitions set up as roots
on the same BIOS partition, and use the BSD bootblock to select them.
(they each have different /etc/fstabs and can have their /usr
partitions spread among the other drives.. they can of course
all mount each other's roots as extra partitions so that if you
f*ck up one you can boot from another root part and fix it..

e.g.
sd(0,a)386bsd <==========(FreeBSD 1.1.5)
sd(0,e)netbsd <==========(NetBSD)
sd(0,f)kernel <==========(FreeBSD 2.0)
