Both support floppies and SCSI. The 1542B command set is a superset of the 1542A, also handling variable block lengths tapes. The 1540A & 1540B have no floppy support. Prices? Dunno, I'm in Norway. 1542B cards work with 386bsd with no modifications. For the 1542A, you need a special dist.fs because of the command set diffs. I have a bootable with 154xA support that I got from David Eyre. I have taken his and other peoples' mods and merged them into as.c so that it checks for the card type to decide what command to use. I have NO mods for asboot and bootas sources as yet, but the dist.fs contains functional versions. I will try to get the stuff though to cgd@agate.berkeley.edu, but my mail has been flaky during the last two weeks. Mail me at the above address or tha@ulrik.uio.no and tell me where to ftp so that you may pick up the stuff. I have no anonymous ftp available... -- Tore Haraldsen
