The Adaptec controller has an internal Disk and an external CD, connected with a terminated cable. After some activity on the CD, if I try to recompile the system (intense disk activity) it seems that the system get wrong charactes from files and the "make depend" or the compilation fail in random points. At least one time I was able to verify that the content of a file changed: the first character of a source was "." instead of "/" (it was a line like "/* text */" becoming "./ text */"). After a reboot the file was back to its original content. So I supposed the problem could be the SCSI bus. I double checked the FAQ against the controller configuration and all things looks ok. The only doubt is about cable and terminator. Thank in advance for any clue or suggestion, Peppe. -- Giuseppe Vitillaro - IBM SEMEA | E-Mail : peppe@unipg.it University of Perugia Italy | 06124 Perugia Phone:+39.75.585-2799 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- All comments/opinions are mine and don't represent those of IBM
