The su command SOMETIMES just hangs, I never get a prompt... Sometimes if we do something in another window it will finish and get a root shell. I have applied the 2 patches to the kernel. I have also noticed that it seems to hapen a lot when we are running X. I put print statements in the su command, and it is hanging on doing the openlog(syslog.....) Does this mean that there is somthing wrong with /dev/console? Or the xconsole program? or syslog? Anybody have any idea's? Thanks -- ______________________________________________________________ /\ University of Wisconsin -- Milwaukee \ \_| Computing Services Division Computer Science Department | | jimj@csd4.csd.uwm.edu jimj@miller.cs.uwm.edu |
