As far as i know, NetBSD 1.0 isn't out yet. The files you have got from ftp.iastate.edu are certainly those from 1.0_BETA, which doesn't have any install disks yet. If you want to install it, you have to install NetBSD 0.9 first, and then upgrade to 1.0_BETA. NetBSD 0.9 can be found on several ftp sites, as grasp1.univ-lyon1.fr.
