Trying to build Cnews 02may92 ...
set up user+groups news/news uucp/uucp
mkdir /usr/spool (for symbolic link to /var/spool/news)
mkdir /usr/spool/news
chmod 1777 /tmp
cd cnews/conf
mkdir 0
bash build
include /usr/sbin and /sbin in path
you can say `/usr/sbin/chown news.news file'
'yes' to all functions and header files questions
don't use cnews' fast stdio library
compiler flags -O -traditional (a guess)
bash doit.root
find .. -exec chown bin {} \;
su bin
bash doit.bin
vi +33 ../include/libc.h
delete: umask(),
add line: extern mode_t umask();
I get this far:
+ cd ../dbz
+ make u COPTS=-O -traditional DBM=
make: don't know how to make u. Stop
+ exit 1
during 'bash doit.bin', sed always complains about "Extra characters
after command." After it there are lots of files with length 0, like
all important Makefiles, most scripts and man pages.
So without doing something about the sed calls there's no go.
Or maybe it's still a {ba|a|}sh problem?
I give up for now. Anybody?
