My system is now working fine with swap partitions on both disks. My problem turned out to be related to my specification of the sf flag in the disktab entry for my second disk. Or, at least, when I removed this flag, and re-disklabeled the disk it began working. There is obviously alot that I don't know about bad block handling with bad144. I have both of my (ESDI) disks formated with sector sparing so that they present an error-free view to the system. <bunch of stuff about the patch deleted...didn't seem to be the problem> >All I can say is that it works perfectly for me.
