I want to hook up an electrical device to the parrallel port on
my 486 machine. The device will toggle lines on the data line
and I wish to be able to read them in using a programming language
probably C of course. I also want to set certain lines for output.

How is this done? It can't be as simple as say "read /dev/tty01"
can it?

Any help is appreciated..or directions on where to look for more help.
