The CDROM was released without being tested, later it was found that the CD was no good. 2.) All version 2 code releases have been pulled from the internet, this to compliy with a copyright problem. We all sit now waiting for for version FreeBSD Release 2 (based on 4.4 Lite code) 3.) The other problem may be your hardware, I suggest your carefully read file that outlines the supported devices. I too had many problems installing and understanding FreeBSD (unix), be patient and take your time. If you need any files for it you may find them on one of the overseas servers like ftp.funet.fi.
