Unfortunately I am running an AHA1542B. It is driving three disks, an Archive Viper QIC150 and an Exabyte EXB-8200 (rev 4.25). The problem shows up when I'm trying to copy anything from the Exabyte to one of the hard disks. It copies a few megabytes, and then everything goes to hell in a handbasket: sd2(aha0:3:0): timed out adapter not taking commands.. frozen?! Debugger("aha1542") called. aha0: MBO not free . . and so on, and so on, and so on... the machine is effectively hung, but the kernel never panics and there isn't any way to recover except to hit the reset button. I've been using the same configuration for several months with nary a hiccup... until I added the Exabyte and tried to copy some stuff to my disk. Thanks for any input! dmesg output follows. - Mike FreeBSD 1.1.5.1(RELEASE) (TIMESINK) #4: Mon Sep 12 22:12:15 CDT 1994 kroot@timesink.ttl.com:/sys/compile/TIMESINK CPU: i486DX (486-class CPU) real memory = 16384000 (4000 pages) avail memory = 15269888 (3728 pages) using 348 buffers containing 2854912 bytes of memory Probing for devices on the ISA bus: sc0 at 0x60-0x6f irq 1 on motherboard sc0: VGA color <4 virtual consoles> sio0 at 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 on isa sio0: type 16550A mse0 at 0x23c irq 3 on isa lpt0 at 0x378-0x37f irq 7 on isa lpt0: Interrupt-driven port fdc0 at 0x3f0-0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2 on isa fdc0: [0: fd0: 1.44MB 3.5in] [1: fd1: 1.2MB 5.25in] aha0: reading board settings, dma=5 int=11 (bus speed defaulted) aha0 at 0x330-0x333 irq 11 drq 5 on isa aha0 waiting for scsi devices to settle aha0 targ 0 lun 0: type 0(direct) fixed SCSI2 aha0 targ 0 lun 0: <QUANTUM LPS525S 3110> sd0: 501MB (1027548 total sec), 2448 cyl, 6 head, 69 sec, bytes/sec 512 aha0 targ 1 lun 0: type 0(direct) fixed SCSI1 aha0 targ 1 lun 0: <MAXTOR XT-4380S B5A > sd1: 318MB (651630 total sec), 1224 cyl, 15 head, 35 sec, bytes/sec 512 aha0 targ 2 lun 0: type 1(sequential) removable SCSI1 aha0 targ 2 lun 0: <ARCHIVE VIPER 150 20000-000> st0: Archive Viper 150 is a known rogue st0: density code 0x0, drive empty aha0 targ 3 lun 0: type 0(direct) fixed SCSI1 aha0 targ 3 lun 0: <IMPRIMIS94601-15 1250> sd2: 989MB (2026965 total sec), 1931 cyl, 15 head, 69 sec, bytes/sec 512 aha0 targ 5 lun 0: type 1(sequential) removable SCSI1 aha0 targ 5 lun 0: <EXABYTE EXB-8200 4.25> st1: density code 0x0, drive empty ed0 at 0x280-0x29f irq 9 maddr 0xd8000 msize 16384 on isa ed0: address 00:00:c0:d1:09:2d, type WD8013EP (16 bit) npx0 on motherboard -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Borowiec All tied to their things, mikebo@MCS.COM they are netted by the strings...
