If you can find a copy, read the September 1994 issue of "Open Computing",
formerly "UnixWorld".  They compare Linux and BSD 4.4 from BSDI.  They
liked both systems but summed up with:

  "While Linux has a large amount of popular support, BSDI has a more
   centralized support system. For managers working on providing Unix
   features like Internet services for their companies, either system
   provides a good solution.  BSDI, however, takes the lead in having
   a comfort level associated with an established company."
