Serial port settings - 7 bit to 8 bit
Newsgroups: comp.unix.bsd

I am running BSD 4.3 tahoe (AOS) on IBM PC/RT's.
I recently switched to BSD from Aix 2.2.1.
The problem I am having is that BSD seems to use 7 bits and 1 stop
bit. My users who are dialing in want to use some communications
software that requires 8 bits on their PCs (X-Windows type stuff).
The modems we are using are US Robotics sportster 14.4. I have getty
run against the port. When a call comes in, it runs a program that
gets user authentication.

I have not been able to figure out where to set it to 8 bits instead
of 7. I have looked around in the getty stuff, but couldn't find
anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Hardware: IBM PC/RT 135
4 Port serial card with 16550 UARTs.
OS: BSD 4.3 tahoe (AOS)
Modem: US Robotics Sportster 14.4
