Date: 27 Sep 1994 16:17:21 -0500 Organization: Applied Research Labs - The University of Texas at Austin Lines: 25 Distribution: inet Message-ID: <36a251$kkj@csdsun2.arlut.utexas.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: csdsun2.arlut.utexas.edu Keywords: ms-windows, OS/2, UNIX, lpr, bsd Hi folks. We've got a user who is trying to print from Microsoft Word for Windows to an Apple LaserWriter II via a TCP/IP lpr client running under OS/2 2.1. Things printed using the standard PostScript driver for Windows spits out a Ctrl-D as the first character of the generated PostScript, which causes the Apple LaserWriter II to interpret the datastream as literal text, and not as PostScript. Right now I have the user locking his print spool queue, printing the job, editing the file in the queue to remove the first character, then releasing the queue. This works but it is way ugly. I seem to recall hearing folks discuss solutions to this sort of problem in the past, but I can't find any obviously relevant FAQ. I've got this post crossposted lots of places, most of which I don't frequent. Please e-mail me any suggestions and I'll summarize as appropriate.
