Showing interest is one thing. "blitz"ing a software company is another. What this generally involves is annoying the company to the point of hatred. It also seems to me that the interest should have been shown when the company was asking for hardware to port to different OSes, instead of after they've decided not to when there was NO interest. >According to ID it was not a matter of numbers, David Taylor did the >linux port just for the sheer fun of it and to learn more about >the OS. His post was after a series of requests to port Doom or >to have one of the FreeBSD developers port Doom. That is what I was trying to get across. It's a matter of $$$. The FreeBSD crowd got their software FREE. I know that there are actually developers out there, but not all of them. As well, they can get about anything they want off the net for FREE. Why in the world would you have more than a handful of users pay for Doom then? >Now you can go back to sleep and don't forget to never let >a vendor know about FreeBSD :) No problem. Although I'd let them know about it long before linux. *grin* Ciao, -- Richard Bainter Mundanely | System Analyst - OMG/CSD Pug Generally | Applied Research Labs - U.Texas pug@arlut.utexas.edu | pug@bga.com Note: The views may not reflect my employers, or even my own for that matter.
