I have recently bought a Conners CA540S SCSI HD + Adaptek 1542 CF controller.
While this works fine for DOS I would like to run FreeBSD on it instead.

I have been running FreeBSD 1.1 on an IDE drive without problems so I decided
to install it on the SCSI drive. Having booted and then gone onto the file
system diskette the install hangs after listing my hardware (including the
AHA controller). I had removed the IDE entry from its BIOS before hand.

If I tell the IDE bios about the IDE Freebsd drive again and boot off this
IT now fails (whilst listing devices) if the SCSI drive is connected to its
controller. In other words, with the 50way ribbon removed I may once again
boot the IDE installed with FreeBSD again.

Questions:

Does FreeBSD 1.1 really have driver support this controller ?

Is there a known problem with some 50way SCSI cables ?
(if so then a suitable supplier's details would be useful)

I should say there are no other SCSI devices on the cable.

Thanks for any tips.
